this ICON is truly missed. before there was ripley , buffy , katniss …one of the first pop culture action heroine was Princess Leia . fans have a lot of gripes with George lucas but most everyone agrees the way Leia was written was groundbreaking . feisty , strong, a rebel leader . carrie fisher put it best when she says “she is a princess . she is in distress but she is no damsel “. Lucas hired his main actors to typecast . carrie fisher embodied all of the attributes of Leia .

carrie fisher herself was a brilliant writer and script doctor. her struggle with addiction and bipolar disorder she wore on her sleeve . open and honest about these struggles b4 it was posh to do so .

maybe controversial. maybe best known for ripping up a picture of the then pope on snl in the early 90’s . some 20 years later I feel the world owes her an apology. she was one of the first to protest sexual abuse of the Catholic Church , one of the first to protest the Grammys for at the time banning rap music . she fought for women’s rights , gay rights and fought the patriarchy, open and honest about sharing the abuse she suffered herself b4 it was widely accepted to acknowledge mental health .

at 20 years old the record company she signed with had big plans to overly sex up her image with tight skirts and blonde hair …she showed up the next day with her signature shaved head and oversized leather jacket and was dropped immediately . she followed that year up by writing her first album herself “the lion and the cobra “ that went platinum in 1987.

I’ve literally had clients say they don’t want a toner or have never heard the term ! which is fine! It’s our job to explain this phenomenon.
.
first off the term toner and gloss usually can be used interchangeably.
.
when lightening hair either with foils or balayage…all we are doing is removing your natural pigment from your hair . After this procedure the raw result after lightening usually can appear yellow, brassy, and or banding depending on if u have previous permanent color underneath (don’t even get me started on box color underneath ) .
.
what toners do is shift these unwanted colors to a more desired and beautiful shade . they get rid of brassiness and big bird yellow guickky. they last 6-8 weeks and slowly fade out of hair . not shampooing as frequently and less heat tools (def use a thermal protector ) can make the results last longer . in most cases they add shine . it also acts as a barrier between your hair and outside pollutants and sun thus protecting your hair . Toners also fill in little gaps and damage created by lightening and or any other abuse making your hair stronger in the end .

all blondes especially cool tone blondes should consider getting their toner refreshed every 6-8 weeks to keep these positive effects from fading out . u might be surprised if u scheduled regular toner appointments u might be able to be highlighted less which will also help your hair stay stronger and healthier .
.
I have had clients tell me that toners make their hair appear darker . this is in most cases a delusion lol . all respect but toners will make your color more beautiful and glossy every time not to mention the benefits listed above . important to note . if u love a platinum cool tone blonde …this shade does NOT REFLECT LIGHT…so NO SHINE. that is one reason u may feel “darker” . Shades with a little gold and def red heads & brunettes reflect light thus making them have way more shine to their hair . facts . Lol

look. Listen. No shade. it’s hard to compare advert campaigns like “take your hair to paradise “ and “hair stronger than the sun” ( what does that even mean 🤨🤔) . IT IS criminal what these mega corporations are claiming and bombarding us all with false information.

the truth is these products are cake full of harmful ingredients that will over time literally eat away at your hair . petroleum . Wax. plastics . carcinogens . also we can tell at the shampoo bowl . we don’t say cuz we don’t want to be biatches….but there is a strange film covering hair that has been using such products . again the neg will not happen all at once right off the bat. But over time your hair will take the toll.
